The 15th foundation day of BPC was celebrated at Kedheykhar, Mongar and Honorable Prime Minister Dasho Tshering Tobgay graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
BPC Management and senior officials started the day by offering prayers and butter lamps at Kedheykhar Shedra, Mongar.
The Honorable Chief Guest, Lyonchhen was welcomed by BPC Chairperson Dasho Ugyen Chhewang, MD and the Management with the chipdrel and marchang ceremony.
Associate Director, HRAS gave the welcome address followed by Managing Director’s report on the progress of the BPC from July 1, 2002 until June 30, 2017.
Honorable Lyonchhen then awarded memento to the 10 retired employees who served for more than 24 years to 41 years. Appreciation certificates and rewards were also awarded to the BPC employees recognizing their hard work and dedicated services (The detailed list of the awardees are mentioned at the end).
Lyonchhen, while gracing the BPC day also thanked BPC for its 15 years of service. He said that as of April 2017, BPC has achieved 99.97 percent electricity coverage and stated that it was a huge achievement for BPC.
BPC employees and the local villager’s group performed some cultural programs and the day ended with a Tashi Labey.

In recognition of their excellent team work in achieving their target and securing first position amongst the 19 Electricity Services Divisions in areas of collection efficiency, loss reduction, customer satisfaction, physical verification and safety.
2. Best Transmission Division- Transmission Maintenance Division, Gelephu
In recognition for the excellent work done by the division in restoring power during the monsoon flood in 2016 and in relocating towers at difficult terrain. The Division’s work of repair and maintenance of Phankhar Zam which has benefitted the public is also appreciated.
3. Best Support Service Department – Human Resources & Administration Services
In recognition of the efforts put in by its team in the areas of quality of services provided, time taken for service delivery and for rendering exemplary support to the employees of BPC.

For risking his life and crossing the river during the flood of 2016 in Gelephu to save company asset worth Nu. 0.82 Million and also restoring power in time.
2. Sonam Nidup, Assistant Lineman II, ESD Mongar
For receiving appreciation from the office of HRH the Gyaltshab and thereby uplifting the public image of BPC and for saving cost to the Company by restoring Khalanzey Mini Hydro Power Plant when the plant was nonoperational due to flood in 2016
3.Sushil Pradhan, Finance Officer, FAS Tsirang
For smoothly shouldering financial transactions of several mega projects and for adhering to the financial norms of the Company.
4.Yeshey Wangchuk, Lineman II, TMD Phuntsholing
For being one of the few technical experts in BPC in carrying out installation of spacers between conductors in 400 KV transmission lines which are sometimes at the height of more than 200 meters and whose spans are also very long.

In recognition for making himself available round-the-clock in the service of the Company. He is also recognized for undertaking the lighting project during the Royal Bhutan Flower Exhibition at the Memorial Chorten in Thimphu.

For working as a Network Administrator in two major projects and carrying out tasks such as network maintenance and network expansion without having to outsource the work and thereby saving cost to the company.

2. Norbu Gyeltshen, Engineer, CMTD
For being one of the few technical experts in BPC capable enough to independently repair and maintain small hydro power plants and for having successfully repaired/assembled several small hydro power machines.
3. Tshagay, Sr. Security cum Fire Guard, SBSB
For always volunteering to work as cook besides his normal duties in almost all BPC functions thereby saving cost to the company.
Memento for Superannuated Employees
In BPC, we have a system of inviting employees who have superannuated in the past year to join us during the celebration of BPC DAY. In recognition to their long years of service to the Company, we present the retirees with a Memento from the Company.
In between 1st July 2016 to 30 June 2017, sixteen employees have superannuated from BPC. Out of the 16 retirees, 10 of them joined us to celebrate the day on 1st July.
