To mark the World Nature Conservation Day on 28th July 2018, the Environment & GIS Division of Bhutan Power Corporation Limited initiated a Tree Plantation Program with support from the 132kV Kholongchhu Transmission Project Office, BPC and transmission line and substation Contractors at Trashigang in two Locations allocated by the Trashigang Territorial Forest Division Office.
The Project Office in collaboration with M/s. Shyama Power India Limited (SPIL) carried out plantation of about 50 saplings of Jacaranda mimosifolia, Cupressus spp., Choerospondias axillaris and Docynia indica at Sanglung (below tower locations 34 & 35) in Yangneer Gewog under Trashigang Dzongkhag.
Similarly, in collaboration with M/s. Siddhartha Engineering Limited (SEL) carried out plantation of about 55 saplings of Jacaranda mimosifolia and Cassia fistula at Corlung in Tongmajangsa Gewog under Trashi Yangtse Dzongkhag. The saplings were planted alongside the highway as suggested by the forestry officials.
A total of 105 saplings were planted on the day.
