CONTRACT AGREEMENT SIGNED FOR THE DESIGN, ENGINEERING, SUPPLY & CONSTRUCTION OF 66/33/11KV SUBSTATION AND ASSOCIATED WORKS AT PANGBESA IN PARO AND 66KV DOUBLE CIRCUIT TRANSMISSION LINE (LILO TO THE SUBSTATION)

BPC has entered into contract with Shyama Power India Limited (SPIL) for the design, engineering, supply & construction of 66/33/11kv substation and associated works at Pangbesa in Paro and 66kV double circuit transmission line (LILO to the substation). The contract agreement was signed on July 14, 2016 at BPC Head Office, Thimphu for contract amount of Nu. 306.628 million and contract duration of 15 months.

The Substation will provide reliable power supply to the Royal Academy and other institutions coming up in the area; it will also improve the power supply security & reliability of the Paro dzongkhag.

Following are the major component of the project:

  • 2 Nos 66kV line bays
  • 2 X 10 MVA, 66/33kV Transformer bays
  • 33kV Indoor GIS Substation
  • 33kV and 11kV outgoing feeders and
  • Control room building

The 66kV D/C line will be LILOed from the existing 66kV S/C Chumdo – Haa transmission line.

The construction, supervision and monitoring of this project will be carried out by the Transmission Project Office, TCD, BPC, Thimphu. A dedicated project engineer shall be stationed for the project.
