Nu. 366.28 million Contract signed for Design, Supply, construction, testing and commissioning of 2 x 10 MVA, 220/33 kV Substation at Dagapela, Dagana, Bhutan

Bhutan Power Corporation Ltd. (BPC) is implementing construction of a 2 x 10 MVA, 220/33 kV substation at Dagapela in Dagana Dzongkhag. The contract was signed with Shyama Power India Limited on December 10, 2015 for Design, Supply, construction, testing and commissioning of 2 x 10 MVA, 220/33 kV Substation. The total value of the contract is Nu. 366.28 million. The contract period is 24 months and all out efforts shall be made to complete the substation within the contractual period.

The 220 kV Substation at Dagapela will cater to the power requirements of Dagana Dzongkhag which is presently supplied from Tsirang Substation on 33kV line which frequently breaks down. Therefore, this substation will improve the reliability of power supply to Dagana Dzongkhag. In future, the construction power requirement of the upcoming Sunkosh Hydroelectric Project shall also be met from this substation by extending a 220 kV transmission line. The project is being implemented through BPC funding.
Scope of the work under this contract covers supply of equipment and construction of five (5) bays ( i.e 1 Nos. of Incoming feeder bays, 1 No of Outgoing feeder bays, 2 Nos. of 220 kV Transformer bay and 1 No. Bus Coupler bay) along with the associated civil works.

The project implementation shall be managed by 200 kV Substation Project Office at Dagapela.
